About Cheese on the Green

Cheese on the Green is an independent fine cheese shop on Bilton Green, near Rugby in Warwickshire.

Our Range

We sell only the finest produce – excellent cheeses, in season, sourced from the best suppliers and nurtured in conditions that allow their flavour and texture to bloom.

All our cheeses are hand-cut or sold individually, so every item is unique. We sell cheeses made from cow, sheep and goat milk, some unpasteurised for a full flavour, and some made with vegetarian rennet.

Whether your preference is for a robust, mature Cheddar, a creamy Camembert or a delicate soft goat’s cheese, we are almost certain to have something you’ll enjoy.

Our range changes as different cheeses become available and go in and out of season, so if you don’t see your favourite cheese in our shop or on our site please do enquire.

We also sell our own range of delicious chutneys, pickles, jams and marmalades, as well as biscuits and crackers, to accompany your favourite cheeses.

Having a dinner party? We have many years of experience and can recommend a cheeseboard selection that will delight your guests and round off the perfect meal.

Getting married? Cheese on the Green can supply wedding cheese cakes – whole fine cheeses tiered in traditional fashion. These “cakes” are hugely popular with guests as they provide something different, delicious and eye-catching.

Our Owner

Cheese on the Green is owned and run by Richard Cooper, who has over four decades of experience in fresh food retailing, and his wife Sue.

Beginning his career as a chef at London’s Claridges, Richard went on to become Provisions Buyer and Senior Provisions Specialist at Fortnum & Mason, “the Queen’s grocer”, and Manager of specialist cheese shop Paxton & Whitfield in London’s West End, among other prestigious roles.

Richard has been a judge for over twenty years at the Guild of Fine Food’s World Cheese Awards and Great Taste Awards, most recently attending the 2017 WCA. 

His many contacts in the world of cheese ensures he can locate exactly the right product at the perfect time, and he and Sue will give you a warm welcome at the shop.
